I am getting a bit lost :lol:

Ive been starting xgl with

Xgl :1 -ac -accel glx:pbuffer -accel xv

Then starting compiz,

LD_LIBRARY_PATH=/usr/lib/opengl/xorg-x11/lib/ DISPLAY=:1 compiz gconf

Then loading DISPLAY=:1 e16 , DISPLAY=:1 gnome-window-decorator did not do a thing.

So at this point i'm looking at a e16 desktop in a xglx window from my gnome desktop, Hmm?

What i am having problems with is setting xgl as the default kde or gnome desktop, so i dont play with it in the Xglx window that is only "600x400".

You need to modify the startx script in /usr/bin to actually start Xgl instead of xorg, since Xgl is an extension to Xorg itself, not a replacement wm.

The instructions are in the wiki under the Xsession (modifying startx) section.

Basically you change the xinit line of startx to start Xgl. Since it is still a startx script at its core, it will still source ~/.xinitrc so you can start compiz and gnome-window-decorator from .xinitrc (as well as starting kde or gnome)

Compiz is a window manager in itself, so you can't run it in parallel with another WM. I haven't tried e16, but e17 definately isn't the go with it.
