neither of these games work with sound
in tuxracer i get the error message:
ALSA lib pcm_hw.c:791:(snd_pcm_hw_open) open /dev/snd/pcmC0D0p failed: Device or resource busy
%%% tuxracer warning: Warning: Couldn't set 44100 Hz 16-bit audio
Reason: No available audio device
and quake 3 freezes when it try to starts the audio
i suspect its because something is refusing to give up control of the audio device, ive tried setting the idle timeout to 2 seconds in kde but that didnt work...
how do i work out which program is keeping audio control? _________________ 95% of all computer errors occur between chair and keyboard (TM)

Are you using a sound server? (arTs, etc.) Depends on your desktop environment, but if you are, disable it and try again. _________________ I don't believe in witty sigs. |

tuxracer only works in kde if i run it through artsdsp, is there a way to get it to work without running it through that? i have alsa installed and seems to work ok.
also, sometimes when i log into kde, i get device or resource busy on the sound, and am told that it's using a null device. this happens generally when xmms locks up and i log out and back in to kde. |
