i just got XDMCP setup, and now i would like to stream the audio from the server computer....
i did an ermerge -s stream and found a few programs: gstreamer, wvstreams, jack media connection kit, and skstream. i checked these programs on freshmeat for more info, but I'm still not sure if they do what im trying to do.
anyone ever try anything similar or use any of these programs? |

Look into using a sound server (like arTs for KDE or esd(?) for Enlightenment). There should be a "network transparency" option, which Google can help you get working. _________________ I don't believe in witty sigs. |

ive installed and started messing with esd but im afraid, as usual, I am too bash illeterate to get it up and running.. ping and all that works fine so i know my network isnt the probel. here's what i did:
on the server i run "esd -public." i press enter and get no errors...
then i run mpg123 and play a song (i read in the docs it is definately compatible with this program)
on the client i run esd -bind <ip-of-mp3-playing-server>
im sure i could just stream mp3s over the network much more easily, but i want to hear more than just mp3 and ogg on the client. |
