Hello, friends!

I'm running Gnome here, and when I click in the "Terminal as Root" it asks my password, but, after I typed it, the window closes before any terminal appear. The output of my /var/log/messages when I try to open it is this:

Dec 13 20:47:23 schuler su[3855]: Successful su for root by myuser
Dec 13 20:47:23 schuler su[3855]: + pts/2 myuser:root
Dec 13 20:47:23 schuler su[3855]: pam_unix(su:session): session opened for user root by (uid=1000)
Dec 13 20:47:23 schuler su[3855]: pam_unix(su:session): session closed for user root

Could someone help me, please? Thanks in advance!

Doesn't work for me, neither.
I usually just open a normal shell and type su. does the trick.

Hello!

Ok, I already knew that it works with this trick, but I really want to open the terminal with my root user. Thanks for the suggestion, anyway. Could someone help me, please?

There's an easy way as I found out.

Go to System/Preferences/Main Menu

Choose Accessories

You can now edit the entry for Root Terminal

Replace gksu /usr/bin/x-term-emulator (or something like that)
with gksu gnome-terminal

Works for me.
