I'm trying to get ram suspend to work on a Dell Vostro 1400 with an 8400m gs.

My kernel is configured properly (i think) and I've emerged hibernate-script. However, when I run 'sudo hibernate-ram' it gives me an error about 'nvidia' being in the blacklist list (which it is), and it fails to hibernate. If I do 'sudo hibernate-ram --force', it appears to suspend successfully, but upon starting up again, the screen fails to turn on...I assume it's a problem with the nividia driver.

Is there any way to get this to work with the binary driver? Using 'nv' is not an option for me.

Comment out nvidia from /etc/hibernate/blacklisted-modules

Is that all that needs to be done? I was under the impression that appending '--force' to the hibernate-ram command ignores the blacklisted modules and would essentially do the same thing? I've just tried it, and the problem persists.

What version of the nvidia-drivers are you using? I am using 177.82 on a T61 (nvidia card NVS 140M) and suspend to ram works perfectly fine even with composite on. However, if you use the 180.* beta drivers, then suspend to ram won't work.
I am also using hibernate-ram and tuxonice-patched 2.6.27-gentoo-r1 kernel.

Oh, well that explains it then. I'm using 180.06. I assume a future (stable) driver release might do the job; I'll wait for that. Thanks for the info!
