hi,

first of all i am not sure whether this is the right forum? maybe desktop environments (or sth completely different) suits better? Finally chose "unsupported software" because of compiz.

Whenever i run:
Code:
emerge -uDN world

I get:
Code:
Calculating world dependencies /
emerge: there are no ebuilds to satisfy "x11-libs/cairo[X]".
(dependency required by "x11-wm/compiz-0.7.8" [installed])

!!! Problem resolving dependencies for x11-wm/compiz-fusion
!!! Depgraph creation failed.

that's this way for ~2 weeks now. i hoped that it will vanish after same resyncing of portage tree.

i really don't know what x11-libs/cairo[X] is standing for. cairo is installed with the X useflag that was my best guess.

my portage is version 2.1.4.5. if you need output of emerge --info or similar just let me know.

any ideas?

Thanks a lot in andvance!

Cheers!

Hi, can you post your emerge --info ?

I think that you are using portage 2.2, because your have this weird [X] with the package name.

Hello,

I had this problem 2 days ago after removing package from package.keywords.
I think i solve it by re-emerging compiz but i am not too sure if i unmerge it first.

It did that after downgrading portage.

Edit: i upgraded to portage 2.2 to upgrade compiz (it was a dependency). few days after it wanted to downgrade portage so i mask it.
Two days ago, i remove portage from mask and package keyword, i was wrong.
It needs to be in package.keyword to get the version sys-apps/portage-2.1.6_rc3

I think all this trouble, is because of EAPI2 support which was in portage 2.2 and now is in portage 2.1 and because compiz 0.7.8 needs EAPI2, right ?
Anyway dont trust me as i dont know what EAPI2 is for.
More experienced user my confirm that....

Xavier

Unmask portage 2.2 (`echo '=sys-apps/portage-2.2*' >> /etc/portage/package.mask`) and install it (`emerge -1a '=sys-apps/portage-2.2*'`).

When you umask, you need to have entry inside /etc/portage/package.unmask and /etc/portage/package.keywords
