Hi all. I'm trying to install 1.2 from the i686 iso. As many people have mentioned, the modprobe <nic driver> doesn't work. I'm using an Intel NIC that uses eepro100 (at least that's what it uses in Windows 2000). When I type modprobe eepro100 nothing happens. What's going on?

Well I'll be honest. I don't know which model it is, and the boot CD told me to use the 3c59x driver, but in Win2K the card uses eepro100 and modprobe eepro100 doesn't work, nor does modprobe 3c59x. Could it have something to do with the fact that they're stil object files? The path is /lib/modules/"/kernel/drivers/net/eepro100.o

Does the .o have anything to do with it?

.o is normal and good. How, exactly, does it not work? If you type it, press enter, and you are returned to your prompt with nothing displayed, it was successful.

Also, if the CD tells you to use a specific driver, it's a good bet that the driver it told you to use will work.
