The wiki is currently down. The admins have been notified. It will return shortly.

Edit: Just a note to say the wiki was back up shortly after it went down. The problem was resolved and measures put in place to help ensure it doesn't happen again.

I have all the old gentoo-wiki. I downloaded all this for my use. The size is 2.8 GB.
I don't know how to make available to everybody.
May by part by part to the forum?
I noticed that the site for old gentoo-wiki doesn't have everything.

The best way is to contribute it to the revived wiki. If you have a complete copy you might be quite popular, busy or both. :wink:

Thanks but no, thanks.

All the more reason to restore whatever you can, as soon as you can, from your archive. I've relocated your post where it will be seen by active contributors to this effort.

It's not so simple.
I don't know how to go forward.
I'm not an experienced user and my english in not good but I can help with the "converting".
But I have a query.
Can we follow the index of old gentoo-wiki?

The new

* Indexes
* Tutorials
* Hardware
* Laptops
* Definitions
* Official articles

----------------------------------
The old

* HOWTO Index
* Tips & Tricks
* MAN Pages
* Hardware
* Security
* FAQ
* Screenshots
* Misc
* Other Indexes

For instance, is it correct to put the section "Installation Methods" of HOWTO_old _gentoo-wiki to "Instalation" section of "Tutorials" ?

Has gentoo-wiki.com been closed?! The domain is currently "parked" (looks lost to some stupid domain grabber; delivers faked spamming search sites :( ). gentoo-portage.com works nevertheless.

This is the complete output from dig. I don't use any forwarder, only the root servers.

Did you restart your dnscache server, or did it just start working again?
Maybe someone had a poisoned dnscache server?

Whois on Go Daddys website:

Quote:
Domain Name: GENTOO-WIKI.COM
Created on: 10-Mar-04
Expires on: 10-Mar-11
Last Updated on: 10-Mar-09

Seems some of us hit a wrong DNS configuration and got it into our caches; it works now. :) (Could have been some billing issue regarding the creation date?)

Do you still intend to get the data back from the old wiki?
I think the 120 days are well over now and i am still having the problem getting google results that are not there anymore :)

Gentoo Wiki is an unofficial site and the owner doesn't come on here often. To my knowledge there are no plans to recover the lost wiki data. archive.org and gentoo-wiki.info have copies of the vast majority of the old wiki. Given the changes to the templates, conventions and layout of the wiki, integrating the old data into the new wiki would be extremely difficult, even if it was available.
