Not sure if this is the right forum for this but I'll try anyway. I'm setting up Funtoo on a test partition and so far so good... except for git. I'm new to this type of subversion. When I'm trying to add Funtoo.org through git I get the following error:
Quote:
localhost portage # git checkout funtoo.org
fatal: Not a git repository (or any of the parent directories): .git

following these instructions here http://www.funtoo.org/en/articles/funtoo/quick-install-howto
Using portage version 2.2_rc20

Thx in advance

Moved from Installing Gentoo to Unsupported Software.
Funtoo != Gentoo, so moved here.

I had similar problem. I found out that my net was not configured properly. Try to ping somewhere behind your gateway, check if you are correctly chrooted in Funtoo and if you run command inside /mnt/gentoo/usr/portage directory.
Good luck

Did you untarred funtoo portage snapshot to /usr (double check that, since DRobbins keeps some regular snapshots in his repo too)? If not download and untar it to /usr. Then your git pull will work or with portage 2.2.rc20 you can just emerge --sync and it'll use git by itself.

git is not a 'type' of subversion, git is a source version control system like subversion, cvs, MKS, bitkeeper all are.

this indicates that /usr/portage isn't a git repo (aka doesn't have a directory .git). did you get the funtoo tarball, as others and the instructions mention?
