|
|
Woke up to discover kde update to 3.5.10. Excellent.
Woke up to discover no more monolithic kde packages. Not so good.
Problem with arts. Many packages fail with errors like
these:
Code: |
game.h:7:30: error: arts/kplayobject.h: No such file or directory
game.h:8:30: error: arts/kartsserver.h: No such file or directory
game.h:9:34: error: arts/kartsdispatcher.h: No such file or directory
In file included from kolf.h:13,
from main.cpp:11:
game.h:7:30: error: arts/kplayobject.h: No such file or directory
game.h:8:30: error: arts/kartsserver.h: No such file or directory
game.h:9:34: error: arts/kartsdispatcher.h: No such file or directory
In file included from ball.cpp:15:
game.h:7:30: error: arts/kplayobject.h: No such file or directory
game.h:8:30: error: arts/kartsserver.h: No such file or directory
game.h:9:34: error: arts/kartsdispatcher.h: No such file or directory
|
Those errors from kolf. A direct attempt to merge kdemultimedia-arts
leads to this:
Code: | main.cpp:56:25: error: kartsserver.h: No such file or directory |
So am I missing some package I should emerge that dependencies
are missing? Monolithic kde seemed a little better put together. _________________ .... there is nothing - absolutely nothing - half so much worth

Looks like the ebuilds e.g. kdeartwork/kdeadmin etc have been replaced by kdeartwork-meta/kdeadmin-meta
Just noticed that myself. You'll need to uninstall the blockers then re-emerge the kde*-meta ebuilds. I think (I'm about to do this myself). _________________ Jingle Jangle Jewellery |

thanks for that but, just to be sure, you are saying that
some kdeartwork or kdeadmin package is going to put
kartsserver.h into /usr/kde/3.5/include/arts ??? _________________ .... there is nothing - absolutely nothing - half so much worth

No. I was commenting on the disappearance of the monolithic ebuilds - I see you've replied in the other thread. I had problems with arts with 3.5.10 ebuilds, so decided just to go ahead and ditch arts by adding -arts USE flag in make.conf. Had to rebuild a bunch of other stuff, and kdemultimedia-meta ebuild doesn't pull in juk or kaudiocreator when emerged with -arts, which is odd as neither need arts, and build and function fine when emerged individually.
I suggest you get rid of arts - it's on its way out anyway.
EDIT - Actually I think there might be problems in using kdegames without arts - do you actually have the arts ebuild installed? _________________ Jingle Jangle Jewellery |

yes - I've tried arts-3.5.10 and the old 3.5.9 but with neither will kdemultimedia-arts
compile, nor many games that need arts ... I don't really need the kde games but
it just seems wrong that arts is broken but not officially eliminated ... _________________ .... there is nothing - absolutely nothing - half so much worth
