|
|
To fix glsa 200807-16 I updated python but came unstuck due to bug 230211.
The fix was to use the unstable version www-apache/mod_python-3.3.1-r1
Now I've run python-updater a few times and it doesn't want more:
| Quote: | ~ # python-updater
* Starting Python Updater from 2.4 to 2.5 :
* No packages needs to be remerged.
|
but glsa-check still thinks it's not fixed:
| Quote: | # glsa-check -t all
This system is affected by the following GLSAs:
200807-16
|
So I still have both python packages maybe that's why:
| Quote: | # equery list python
[ Searching for package 'python' in all categories among: ]
* installed packages
[I--] [ ] app-admin/python-updater-0.5 (0)
[I--] [M ] dev-lang/python-2.4.4-r13 (2.4)
[I--] [ ] dev-lang/python-2.5.2-r6 (2.5)
[I--] [ ] dev-python/python-fchksum-1.7.1 (0)
[I--] [ ~] www-apache/mod_python-3.3.1-r1 (0)
|
I read dire warnings about unmerging python in the FAQ so that's why I ask: what's the downside in removing python 2.4 now that 2.5 seems to be working as far as python updater is concerned?

You probably can safely remove Python 2.4. |
