when i try , i get this in /var/log/messages. Happens immediately after a reboot as well.
Code: | Aug 6 11:24:43 NTGHicu1 sshd[19004]: pam_unix(sshd:session): session opened for user root by root(uid=0)
Aug 6 11:27:02 MyServer login[16322]: FAILED LOGIN (1) on 'tty1' FOR `root', Authentication failure
Aug 6 11:27:05 MyServerlogin [16322]: FAILED LOGIN (2) on 'tty1' FOR `UNKNOWN', Authentication failure
Aug 6 11:27:09 MyServerlogin [16322]: TOO MANY LOGIN TRIES (3) on 'tty1' FOR `UNKNOWN' |
but I can get access with SSH . If i try and change a users' password after Ive SSH'd in I get
Code: | MyServer ~ # passwd atpco
MyServer passwd: Authentication token manipulation error
~ #
|
Code: | security # cat /etc/securetty
# /etc/securetty: list of terminals on which root is allowed to login.
# See securetty(5) and login(1).
