I'm having a really strange problem with my Netgear WPN311 wireless PCI card. I've installed the madwifi drivers and configured everything according to the Gentoo Wireless Wiki and the card seems to work fine. When I run the Gentoo init script (/etc/init.d/net.ath0) everything works fine and it says that I'm connected to a wireless network and ath0 has received an address from dhcp (the access point has no encryption). At this point I should be connected, right? But when I try to ping a website it doesn't work. It just sits there and waits.
Is there a small step I'm missing somewhere? Could it be a DNS problem?
Thanks for the help. _________________ "What goes on in life, that goes for eternity." |

Thanks for the quick help. The problem was actually my firewall. I had forgotten to change my interface from "eth0" to "ath0" so it was blocking everything. Maybe this is something that should be added to the Gentoo documentation. A quick reminder to check your firewall settings. _________________ "What goes on in life, that goes for eternity." |
