Hi,
My system currently has a 7600GT which drives two 20" monitors (both 1680x1050) in a TwinView configuration. However, it is starting to show its age. I am therefore in the market for a new graphics card -- with the 8800GTX and the HD4850 both being in my price range.
While for Windows it seems as if the HD4850 is a better bet performance wise I am unsure if the same is true in the Linux world. I know ATI have (possibly historically) been worse than nVidia on Linux. One thing that is important to me is hardware acceleration across both monitors (is this possible nowadays with ATI cards?).
Does anyone have any advice or suggestions about which one to get?
Regards, Freddie. |

Just go with what you want.. Linux isn't a gaming platform maybe one day but that will be down the line. _________________ Vanilla kernel without PITA |
