|
|
Hi,
I installed Gentoo, insatlled the the hotplug usb utilities and end
up with a /dev/usb/lp0 which, after every re-boot or un-plug is only readable by root, so I have to manually do a "chmod 666 /dev/usb/lp0".
What am I missing here ?

You can change the permissions (and many other things) in a sticky fashion by editing /etc/devfsd.conf. To apply the settings without a reboot, run "killall -HUP devfsd". _________________ I don't believe in witty sigs. |

Thanks,
I even went further and changed into 777.
I even re-booted, also to test whether all lm_sensor
modules did autoload, and yes, now it can stay on forever...

Watch out !! Be carefull: this is a great way to end up in BIG trouble,
I just lost all /dev/hd* devices and a bunch of other devices if
youchange the settings in desfd to "root, root 777"

Well, any odd number in permissions means that a particular file is executable; I don't know why you'd mark your disks executable, that's plain silly. _________________ I don't believe in witty sigs. |
