I hate this: I did emerge -e system today and now system is screwed. It began, because libcaca doesnt compiled, and so on.
I did emerge --keep-going -e system and now system is bah. I hate that.
Please help, or I do have to extract one stage3 archive again.

Do you have libncurses.so.5.7 in /lib?
I have this in /lib
| Code: |
sym /lib/libcurses.so -> libncurses.so.5.6
sym /lib/libncurses.so.5 -> libncurses.so.5.6
sym /lib/libcursesw.so -> libncursesw.so.5.6
obj /lib/libncurses.so.5.6
sym /lib/libncursesw.so.5 -> libncursesw.so.5.6
sym /lib/libncursesw.so -> libncursesw.so.5
sym /lib/libncurses.so -> libncurses.so.5
obj /lib/libncursesw.so.5.6

well i used the binaries from arch linux, but my system had no ncureses libaries. hdd disk space was below 1 gb. but portage was screwed up. i hate that. new record for me this year. i was able to destroy portage 5 times, but not on purpose.
i think newest ncurses version on amd64 is bogus. i masked it _________________ ln -s /usr/lib64/libcurl.so.4 /usr/lib64/libcurl.so.3 |

well a lot of libaries were broken. I didnt noticed that. Only way around was. Uninstall gnome and system libaries. Then go through kde4.3 and then reinstall gnome. Before I did reinstall some core libs, pango, cairo, directfb, poppler.
well, I think I will run revdep-rebuild after each emerge --update --deep -N world and every installation.
I hate that, that the system can be so easily screwed up.
Seems to be ok, now!! _________________ ln -s /usr/lib64/libcurl.so.4 /usr/lib64/libcurl.so.3 |

You've destroyed portage 5 times? I suspect either memory problems or disk problems, or bad cflags, with the broken binaries you keep finding... _________________ Petition for Better 64-bit ATI Drivers - Sign Here
