|
|
i removed ati-drivers, and went for the xf86-video-ati. i don't have anything specified in my kernel, and nothing in /etc/modules.autoload/kernel-2.6.
on boot up, i keep finding fglrx. i can't load drm or radeon without manually removing.
i can't figure for the life of me what is loading this? |

The actual kernel driver module can be found in "/lib/modules${kernelversion}/video/", and is not removed by unmerging ati-drivers.
It's safe to delete it, though.
Still, I don't see why it would be automatically loaded... _________________ "You have to invite me in" |

I'll take a look and delete it.
Still don't get why it loads, and nothing when using lsmod indicates that anything is using or dependent on it.
Thanks for the tip. Will have to try when I get home. |

Udev loads the module when it sees that you have compatible hardware (this is called coldplugging). |
