|
|
Hello,
I have a problem! I have installed successfully gentoo on my laptop by using of livecd-2007.0. After this installation I have installed window XP on the other partition of disk! Nu I have lost my grub booting and don't know how I can recover my grub booing file. Can I use livecd to recover it and how?
Would somebody tell me about this problem to solve it?
With regards,
Nader

you'll have to do the same stuff you did when you initially installed grub... something like this...
mount all your partitions, chroot and do the following:
| Quote: | grub
(grub opens)
root (hd0,0)
setup (hd0)
quit
(grub exits) |
unmount and reboot... that should get you going... don't forget to update grub.conf for your windows partition.

Hi all,
Though I am always using "rescuecd" for things like this I'm sure the installcd
will work the same way.
No need to mount anything!
All you do is run grub and reboot.

Can be used for 32 and 64 bit installs.

Thank all!
I have booted via livecd and usde grub without any mounting and now I have my booting system. It is also a good idea to have a rescuecd ( or usb ), but I have to read about it.
With regards,
Nader |

The Gentoo minimal CD or a SystemRescueCD is a pretty good thing to have when you mess up an installation.
It saved my butt a couple of time since May 2005. _________________ Sysadmin of Gentoo-Québec.org
