Pidgin causes evolution-data-server to lockup

The topic doesn't sound right but it happens regularly to me. In Pidgin when I have multiple tabs open sometimes switching a tab (using alt+1/2/3) causes Pidgin to lockup, the pidgin window goes blank gray.

Once tha happens going to Evolution and clicking on a message gets me a 'Formatting message...' message in the content pane. I can switch mail folders and select messages from the folder pain but all I get is 'Formatting message...'. Gnome-panel also locks up although I can change screens with ctl+alt+1/2/3.

The only way to clear the lockup is to kill evolution-data-server and then everything works fine.

Looking at the output of top there's no process using 100% or going crazy.
