hi everyone
i have gentoo running and before there was no problems at all
though yesterday i did an update world and when the update was done
the mice didn't work anymore ( touchpad and usb mouse )
and the volume control ( hardware rotating button to increase or decrease the volume ) also stopped working
so i managed to solve the mice problem by editing the xorg.conf file but i couldn't find how to get the volume button to work again
( before when i played with it a slider used to appear on the screen with a small speacker on it m and while i change with the button
the slider used to change automatically , and the sound volume updates f crs , but now ntg happens )
anyone can help on this ?
thank you in advance
Regards
Geogres

re-emerge your keyboard and mouse if xorg server has been update to fix them
and check in gnome keyboard properties that the keyboard match yours, you can now set volume control... from there. |

hey krinn , thx for your answer but you got me wrong
so as i said before i already solved the mice problem by editing xorg.conf and there wasn't a keyboard problem
( it's bizzare almost every time i update i have to change the settings than the ones before, for things to work )
but this is not the question , the question is that on my laptop i have a knob to increase and decrease volume ( a hardware knob )
before updating it used to work fine ( it used, while increasing or decreasing the volume ,to show a volume silder on the screen also )
but now after update it's doing nothing , so the question is how do i fix this
thanks

still think you need to have a look at gnome-keybinding-properties, lookout XFAudioLowerVolume and XFAudioRaiseVolume are assign.
if you don't use gnome, i don't know |
