During update i noticed that [b]sys-devel/flex[/b] is now masked?
Is there any particular reason for that?
Does gentoo offer any other replacement for it?

Perhaps, but why don't you just install the masked package ? Unless it's very broken or
insecure, I don't see any harm in this.

?
Its not masked in portage. Have you got a local package.mask file? |

hmm... eix and emerge show different things.
and this is not a matter of wrong entries in cache
or dbs of eix or emerge.
I think I broke somehow eix.
