For school, I'm trying to install gentoo linux on my windows xp vmware system but when I start it up it will not read the iso or the cdrom drive and boot into the livecd or minimal install cd. Can anyone tell me what is wrong with vmware that I can't install Gentoo Linux on it?
Thanks in Advance,

I've had no trouble installing gentoo from a liveCD under Vmware on windows.
Is the CD a bootable liveCD? Check by booting it native.
Do you have the CD drive set to "connected at power on" in the VMWare settings?
Are you sure the VM is attempting to boot from the CD drive? Click in the VM window when the VMWare logo is showing, and press ESC to get a boot menu, then you can select the CD drive to be sure. |
