I'm quite sure the gl3 in that has nothing to do with OpenGL 3.0. It means "the third implementation of a gl output method in mplayer"
Just like the gl2 mplayer driver has nothing to do with OpenGL 2. It's merely "the second implementation of a gl output method". A lot of people think "-vo gl2, yeah, I using opengl 2 here!", which is completely false. In fact, the gl implementation is better and has more features. So much so, that mplayer2 has actually removed the gl2 method some time ago. Because it's unmaintained and redundant.
Edit: Ok, it seems this thing is targeting OpenGL 3: http://git.mplayer2.org/wm4/mplayer2.git/commit/?h=gl3_glsl&id=0e10e2c6808c98f3ba665c22120bda7c2ccabb44. What I said above still stands though. It wouldn't surprise me if -vo gl already uses OpenGL 3 stuff, if available.
Also, this is just a video output method. Nothing to do with vaapi, which is about video decoding. |

Err, mplayer has had a directx output method since forever. It's the Windows equivalent of xv.
It seems you really, really want VAAPI in mplayer2. I wouldn't mind it either. But linking completely unrelated commits to VAAPI won't make that happen. |
