NIIIICE! Was it difficult to get the compositing effects to work? That background should totally be animated. _________________

Your screen shots are pretty much the only ones that have ever made me think about actually using KDE. Pure awesome. _________________ the people have spoken |

Kubuntu KDE 4.0.3
A few problems, but it looks purdy and it works well. I haven't experienced a single crash of the system as a whole yet, although individual apps crash from time to time. Overall it is the best linux desktop I have ever used, and I can't wait for 4.1

Thanks
Getting compiz-fusion working was pretty easy. I followed the really good how-to here: http://gentoo-wiki.com/HOWTO_compiz-fusion _________________ padded walls not quiet storms fury burned out killing time |

Getting compiz-fusion working was pretty easy. I followed the really good how-to here: http://gentoo-wiki.com/HOWTO_compiz-fusion | I just took another look at those screenshots. I was perplexed b/c I thought that was e17. Wouldn't have asked had I known. Still, nice work. _________________

e17 is looking really awesome now. I really think I should give it a try again. e16+gnome was my first linux environment and I was always really into the really excellent visual design. After that I ran waimea for a bit but that died so I played with fvwm because you can pretty much make it look like anything you can dream up. I eventually got tired of working with scripts every time I wanted to change something so I settled into KDE + emerald because I like how simple it is (compared to fvwm anyway) and the two offer a lot of options for look customization with minimal effort. Still, e17 looks really, really cool. I should test it or something. _________________ padded walls not quiet storms fury burned out killing time |
