|
|
I just finished an install onto an Ent. 3000 Server. But when I rebooted and got to the ok prompt, i pointed obp to disk0, "boot disk0" and i get the error "Fast Data Access MMU Miss". Im currently running OBP v3.2.12 and Im gona try to upgrade to v3.2.21. Ive never upgraded OBP before and dont know if it will even work. If anyone has or has info on the error, please respond. Thanks! |

I only know how to flash in solaris, you have to download the appropriate patch set, unzip then follow the instructions in the README
Anyone know how to extrac the bin file from the patch set and flash OBP with the bin file under Linux?

I havent made much progress with the "Fast Data Access MMU Miss" error ive been getting while trying to load the linux kernel from the OBP. I did however manage to upgrade the OBP by installing Solaris9 onto another HD and swaped it out after i completed the OBP upgrade. It is not well documented too, so I will make another post on how to upgrade the OBP. However, i also found out that NO 64-bit OS is supported below firmware 3.2.16. I was running OBP 3.2.12 and upgraded to 3.2.30 and i still have the same MMU Miss error. Any information would be greatly appreciated. Thanks! |

ok, i have failed to bring the system back up to linux via boot cdrom. I have tried the gentoo sparc cd and the debian boot cd, both of which give me the original error, Fact Data Access MMU Miss. At this point Im kinda stuck. I was unable to check the version of SILO, i tried the obp command in the ok prompt "limit-ecache-size" and im pretty sure that its not a hardware problem because solaris can boot. Any advise would be greatly appreciated. |

ok I have searched again for you:
try this
Code: |
setenv auto-boot? false
reset
then limit-ecache-size
boot disk (or cdrom)
|
also found these on deja ^H^H^H^H groups.google.com
Code: |
I am sure there is a better answer out there; in the meantime:
Are you booting from a CD you burned yourself ? I had a weird problem in the
past with CDs burned at 12X+ and MMU miss . Once rewritten at 2X the errors
went away.

This usually means that one of the kernel images listed in /etc/silo.conf
is too large.

hope these help |

I spoke too soon. The ISOs available in the experimental directory do not boot my blade 1000 either. In fact, they don't even load SILO successfully. At least 1.4rc4-2 loads SILO... it just fails when you try to boot any of the gentoo image labels.
So my Blade still no-booty. |

I have a similar problem!
I am trying to load Solaris 9 OS and it gives me the following error:
ok, boot cdrom -s
Loading ...
Boot Device: disk File and Args:
Fast Data Access MMU Miss
I am currently using a burn-copy of Solaris 9, I'll try and find a non burnt copy.
Cheers,
