Hi Guys
I need to compile a new net-driver in a chrooted environment. Is this possible??
When I try to configure the my kernel I get the following:
Code: | root@2[knoppix]# chroot /mnt/hdc3
Knoppix / # cd /usr/src/linux
Knoppix linux # make menuconfig
HOSTCC scripts/basic/fixdep
make[1]: *** [scripts/basic/fixdep] Fehler 255
make: *** [scripts_basic] Fehler 2
Knoppix linux # |

Yeah, that should be no problem. Maybe you need /proc mounted in the chroot though. _________________ Please add [solved] to the initial post's subject line if you feel your problem is resolved. Help answer the unanswered

proc now mounted from within the gentoo-system.
still same error.
EDIT: Now that I have pulled the latest kernel, I tried to compile on the system itself (no chrooted anymore). I still get this strange error message. Strange because of no more helping output... Anyone knows what Error 255 is?
EDIT2: I had 2 filesystem corruptions. Aftere repairing and an "emerge -evt system" I can compile kernels again _________________ (\ _/)
