Yo again,
bootstrapping as we speak after Trying new stuff about the sun disk label partition ... during fdisk I did something and suddenly it started behaving as described in the doc .. maybe a missing step? Heh, I just hope it works, because I'll be damned if I know what I did
In any case, to do the bootstrap I'm just using the default make.conf stuff suggested in the install doc.
My questions are these:
What are considered to be the reccomended flags for my system (below) and:
What is safe to rip from the kernel (stuff like PIC?) to keep the size nice and low?
System is:
Sun Ultra1 Creator 3d
167Mhz, 128mb ram
Creator3d Frame Buffer
type 5 kb/mouse
built in scsi,ethernet, sound, goodies
floppy drive (why? lol)
SCA Hard disk, and normal scsi cdrom
-NO- extra sbus cards or other addons
any hardware listed thats known not to work?

I'd recommend what is written in the installation documentation:
USE flag "-java" to disable the building of gcj (great speed improvement)
CFLAGS "-mcpu=ultrasparc -mtune=ultrasparc -O3 -pipe" gives the best optimization (other -m/-f flags are more or less cosmetic I think) |

-mcpu=ultrasparc implies -mtune=ultrasparc, so you only need -mcpu. |
