|
|
I did a eix-sync and a emerge -aDNtu world some Minutes ago an portage tells me this:
| Code: |
emerge -aDNtu world
These are the packages that would be merged, in reverse order:
Calculating world dependencies \!!! A file listed in the Manifest could not be found: /usr/portage/x11-libs/cairo/cairo-1.5.8.ebuild
-
!!! All ebuilds that could satisfy "sys-libs/db:4.4" have been masked.
!!! One of the following masked packages is required to complete your request:
- sys-libs/db-4.4.20_p4 (masked by: ~amd64 keyword)
For more information, see MASKED PACKAGES section in the emerge man page or
refer to the Gentoo Handbook.
(dependency required by "dev-lang/python-2.4.4-r9" [ebuild])
!!! Problem resolving dependencies for sys-apps/busybox
!!! Depgraph creation failed.
|
Yes the dependency is sys-libs/db:4.4 not sys-libs/db-4.4
Is someone capeable of explaining this to me?
Regards

Hi,
I think the syntax (sys-libs/db:4.4) is for the slot, rather than a version. Hence unmask sys-apps/db (in package.keywords) for your arch and python should emerge easily.
cairo-1.5.8 is no longer in portage. Either upgrade to 1.5.10/1.5.12 or downgrade to stable 1.4.12
After sorting out these problems, execute emerge -avuDN worlg again and check the errors.
cheers,

Oh, I did not realize, this means a slot install, good to know...But why does python now all of a sudden need an older version of sys-libs/db?

P.S.:
Regarding cairo portage tells me this:
| Code: |
!!! All ebuilds that could satisfy "x11-libs/cairo" have been masked.
!!! One of the following masked packages is required to complete your request:
- x11-libs/cairo-1.5.10 (masked by: corruption)
- x11-libs/cairo-1.4.14 (masked by: corruption)
- x11-libs/cairo-1.4.12 (masked by: corruption)
- x11-libs/cairo-1.4.10 (masked by: corruption)
- x11-libs/cairo-1.2.6 (masked by: corruption)

I understand.
Yes I do. I am using the latest stable portage for my arch (AMD64) which is 2.1.4.4. For starters it would be really helpfull to know, what 'masked by corruption' means. I can not find an explanation in the Gentoo Handbook, the man pages of portage and emerge, the gentoo wiki or in this Forum.
Perhaps I should post this in a seperate thread, since this has nothing to do with sys-libs/db any more.
