according to 'emerge -p gcc', gcc is the only program that will be updated. but then, the thing started to emerge baselayout ! it is continuing to do so as I write this.
it did give me some warning beeps after it did gcc but I didn't have time to respond.
just a warning to others |

Ah, gotta love the helpless "I don't know/like what it is doing but I can't stop it... and it is still happening!"
I know I hate when that happens. _________________ They said it required Windows XP or better... so I installed linux. |

not really helpless... just surprised that emerge wasn't very forthcoming. might be a bug.
i could hit ctrl-C anytime. but since this is the weekend, i think I could use some system upgrade.
has this happened to you, Tarential ? I was also concerned about some baselayout problems a couple of weeks ago. |

34 config files needs updating afterwards. FYI only for those who might try the same thing. |
