|
|
Hey everyone,
Started experiencing a strange sound problem the other day; when ever I play an mp3 with Exaile = Crackly sound. Play an mp3 with Totem = Crackly sound. Play an mp3 with mplayer = Perfect!
Any one have any ideas of how mplayer is successful why the rest aren't?
Edit: Not every mp3 file plays crackly in Exaile/Totem.
Cheers,
Spudgun

There is probably something wrong with the xine or gstreamer library. Perhaps, try upgrading xine-lib or gstreamer*? _________________ "There will be more joy in heaven over the tear-bathed face of a repentant sinner than over the white robes of a hundred just men." (LM, 114) |

I had the same problem. After some research I found that in the end it is a bug in alsa-lib 1.0.14. It is #3360 in Alsa's bugtracking system. So you can find more details there.
Solution: Emerge alsa-lib-1.0.16_rc2 or downgrade alsa-lib to 1.0.13.
Perhaps someone should file a bug to stabilize alsa-lib-1.0.16 (btw. 1.0.16 final is not even in portage) as this problem might affect a lot of people. |
