emerge --clean rsync before emerge --update world mistake

Without thinking I ran 'emerge --clean rsync' before 'emerge --pretend --update world', and now I get the error 'Calculating world dependencies -
!!! Error: couldn't find match for net-misc/bind-tools in net-misc/host-991529'
I imagine this happened because my installed, no longer "needed" portage files were erased. I was wondering if there is any way to get my old rsync tree back, or perhaps generate what is missing. Thank you,

Try unmerging them. I don't know what net-misc/host-991529 is, but I do know that net-misc/bind-tools has moved to net-dns/bind-tools. So, then just re-emerge the new names.
