I've used cafepress before.. And I find their quality to be quite poopy.. I know this sounds a bit extreme, but there's a contender out there by the name of Spreadshirt. I've ordered from them before, and the quality is astounding. They charge a little bit more, but things look and feel better overall. They have pretty much the same selection of stuff that cafepress does (with the exception of clocks, i think). But the entire shirt is customizable, sleeves, back, front, bottom, place anything anywhere you want.
Getting to the point, I think the gentoo store should do an overhaul and switch over to spreadshirt. I'm not making any demands, but I want to support gentoo, and I want to buy a shirt.. but I don't want a poopy shirt. I'm sure you guys feel me on that.
There's a store option on Spreadshirt, much like cafepress, and I'm pretty sure they offer an api for websites.
Thanks for looking at this, and I hope my voice is heard. I'm not quite sure where this would go, so I'm popping it in general chat. Mods, if you want to move this, go for it. But thanks for listening. I don't know if what I'm suggesting is even at all possible, but the quality would be godly, and the price would be of minuscule difference.
If you wish to check them out, their url is http://www.spreadshirt.com _________________ The song "The Final Countdown" Is now playing in your head. |

igneous,
I've used spreadshirt, because they are in Europe. The quality of the garments is good but for the price I was expecting a printed Tee shirt not a thermal transfer.
I've never seen spreadshirt offer CDs/DVDs either, which the present gentoo store does and we still have users that want their media shipped as they don't have the bandwidth to download it.
I'm all for a European Gentoo outlet _________________ Regards,

I would expect various payment options, paypal, credit cards etc. and of course a lot of interesting designs. |

Cafepress is a little rough when it comes to quality implementation. I have thought about purchasing a shirt or something as a type of Gentoo flair (intentional reference to Office Space), but the main reason is to donate to the project, which one can do directly. _________________ “Truth, like infinity, is to be forever approached but never reached.” --Jean Ayres (1972)

Yeah, the thing is, I want to buy a shirt (a few shirts actually).. And I know that gentoo gets a cut out of that.. But I've ordered from cafepress, and their stuff is horrendous. I was thinking about buying something from spreadshirt, but like.. then they wouldn't get the cut out of the money.
I guess I could make some shirts for myself and then donate $30 or something.. But it just doesn't feel the same. _________________ The song "The Final Countdown" Is now playing in your head. |

I got the "emerge system" shirt a few months back. It seems to be pretty good quality since it's still in one piece and hasn't faded or anything. Overall Cafepress has been good to me so far. _________________ "Your voice is like the sound of sirens to a house on fire..." -The Alkaline Trio |

Interesting. Maybe they've improved the quality of their merchandise, because it has been quite some time since I've gotten something from them. In any case, it is still more supportive to just donate, as they will get all of that money. _________________ “Truth, like infinity, is to be forever approached but never reached.” --Jean Ayres (1972)

Or a nice black Gentoo cap like in 2005. I don't like the kaki or the white cap |

Maybe I should get some stickers for my boxes. I really like the one that says "I'd rather be compiling." _________________ “Truth, like infinity, is to be forever approached but never reached.” --Jean Ayres (1972)

If the gentoo store had case badges, Jeeeez I'd buy a truckload. At the moment I have these on my comps.

Now there's some possibilities.. Have the Gentoo logo on these with "Compile Me" or "I've been compiled".. |

Seems to me that there's an option left off of the poll (although "No" does cover it broadly; that's what I voted). The option I'm looking for is, "No, because I'm generally happy with the merchandise." I've got tee shirts and mugs that I'm quite satisfied with.
