Every time I run nvidia-settings I get the error "You do not appear to be using the NVIDIA X driver. Please edit your X configuration file (just run `nvidia-xconfig` as root), and restart the X server."
So now if I run nvidia-xconfig it generates an xorg.conf file (which I haven't had to use in order for everything else to work) so if I reboot or relog X doesn't start. The only way for it to work after doing this is for me to delete the xorg.conf and log in again. I can't figure it out :\
Oh, I'm also running on amd64 if that affects anything. |

And are you running the NVIDIA driver? (Are you using "nv" or "nvidia" in xorg.conf?) _________________ Never argue with an idiot. He brings you down to his level, then beats you with experience.

I emerged the nvidia drivers but I'm not using an xorg.conf because it hasn't needed it and any time it sets itself up on its own X won't start. Do I need to set one up on my own? |
