This is a weird problem. I run a GeForce2, with the ebuild of nvidia-kernel and nvidia-glx emerged. I run KDE for my root user & Enlightenment for me. So when I ran glxgears & only got ~200fps (small window) as "brad" I assumed that my accelerated driver wasn't running for non-root users. I assumed this because I had read about this problem somewhere & my root user could get ~1200 fps. Anyhow, to cut a long story short "brad" can get the same fps when running kde as an environment - so I assume that there is some weirdness with E. I use kdm as a window manager & don't suffer this problem on my Mandrake install.
Any ideas how to get around this - I really like running E rather than KDE.

Cheers
Brad
