Performed a kernel upgrade to 2.6.27 using the g5_defconfig.
When i boot with the new kernel, I lose the console.
The system will boot and i can ssh into the computer, but the cosole (dev/tty0) is blank except for a few messages from the boot/kernel.
Any ideas how to get the console/monitor back?
With the 2.6.24 kernel, I did not have this problem, and was able to run the gnome ui.
Thanks |

I don't know about Macs so much, but when I have an x86 machine that has that problem, it's usually because I either didn't turn on the frambuffer, the framebuffer console, or both. Those are available under Graphics Support with X86. I'd imagine you have some analogue for the Mac.
Blessed be!

check for differences between a working kernel config and the config of this kernel, but as pappy_mcfae said, probably a framebuffer issue or sth related.
There is a ppc section available btw, you will get more help there

Moved from Kernel & Hardware to Gentoo on PPC.
Here you'll find more people that knows what a "G5" is. So, moved here. |
