|
|
Hi There,
I have just tried to update world which normally works very well. Except today I ran into this problem. I think I have a tiny clue how to fix it, but rather than stuff it up, can I please have some help?
| Code: | * Determining the location of the kernel source code
* Found kernel source directory:
* /usr/src/linux
* Could not find a Makefile in the kernel source directory.
* Please ensure that /usr/src/linux points to a complete set of Linux sources
*
* ERROR: gnome-base/gnome-menus-2.20.3 failed.
* Call stack:
* ebuild.sh, line 1717: Called dyn_setup
* ebuild.sh, line 768: Called qa_call 'pkg_setup'
* ebuild.sh, line 44: Called pkg_setup
* gnome-menus-2.20.3.ebuild, line 30: Called linux-info_pkg_setup
* linux-info.eclass, line 595: Called die
* The specific snippet of code:
* get_version || die "Unable to calculate Linux Kernel version"
* The die message:
* Unable to calculate Linux Kernel version
*
* If you need support, post the topmost build error, and the call stack if relevant.
* A complete build log is located at '/var/tmp/portage/gnome-base/gnome-menus-2.20.3/temp/build.log'.
*

make sure you have installed the kernel sources (gentoo-sources) and there's a link to them within the /usr/src directory the link should be named /usr/src/linux _________________ My paludis --info |

Hi Loftwyr,
Thanks for that. I updated my symlink to point to already installed gentoo-sources. I guess I was unsure whether I had to recompile kernel if I did this.
