|

Greetings,
Apologies f this has been addressed, but I searched and couldn't find it. My problem is that my D-Link Rtl8139 wried Ethernet card is timing out when running DHCPCD. I have the driver, 8139too, compiled as a kernel module. The odd part is, it works just fine when I boot from the 2007.7 minimal CD for AMD64. My net.resolv and me conf.d/net are the same as those on the CD. Any ideas?

Make sure 8139too is the only one module that gets loaded. Most of the time udev loads 8139cp instead, if present. If yes either remove it from your kernel configuration or add it to the blacklist. _________________ Gentoo addict: tomorrow I quit, I promise!... Just one more emerge...

| Thanks for the quick response. I have not compiled the 8139cp driver into my kernel or as a module. |

Hm. I don't have a windows Install. I pulled this card out of a box in my closet (because the live CD didn't recognize the onboard nVidia ethernet) so it is possible that I caused this problem using a windows machine some years ago. However I currently don't have the means to fix it in the described manner. Thanks for the suggestion.
EDIT: I notice that when booted from the livecd, the 8139too module uses another module called mii, which I don't have built on my hdd environment. does anyone know where this module is in the kernel config?
EDIT2: I'm an idiot...I was trying to configure eth0 and it was really eth1. Well the Cd had seen it as eth0 for some reason. But still. Anyway it's working great now. Thanks for the help! |
