|
|
Hi,
I was trying to run etc-proposals but when I try to run it I get
| Code: |
Qt: Session management error: Authentication Rejected, reason : None of the authentication protocols specified are supported and host-based authentication failed
|
Generally I start a shell, do a su and then start etc-proposals. I guess I miss something to allow root to use my desktop.
any hints?
thanks
Christian

Should make that message disappear (It allows allusers on localhost to use the X-Server). However, running etc-proposals here was always possible, even when that message appeared. Which version of etc-proposals do you use? _________________ etc-proposals, your friendly config file updater! |

hmm - xhost localhost didn't do the trick. i still end up with the same error message. If I run it with --frontend=gtk2 I do not get any error message and end up immediately at the prompt.
For the version I get
| Code: |
# etc-proposals --version
Versions:
Library version 1.4.1 by Björn Michaelsen
Gtk2 Frontend version 1.4 by Björn Michaelsen, Christian Glindkamp
Qt4 Frontend version 1.3 by Jeremy Wickersheimer, Björn Michaelsen, Christian Glindkamp
Readline Frontend version 1.3 by Björn Michaelsen

Ok, update to etc-proposals 1.4.2
etc-proposals < 1.4.2 had a bugs that always enabled --fastexit - it thus exits immediately if no updates are to be done.
The Qt Session message has nothing to do with it. _________________ etc-proposals, your friendly config file updater! |

Thanks, that worked. After upgrading I can now work with etc-proposals. Indeed I had no pending files to update, therefore I didn't see the GUI.
Works perfectly, thanks for the support!
