KDE 4 with KDE 3

I am having a kde 3 install.
If i try to install kde 4 portage wants to put it in a new slot.
Fine for trying, but if i decide to keep 4.0 and remove kde 3 will it still work or will i have toupdate all enviornment variables myself?

i guess that if you keep your ~/.kde3.5 files safe, you will be okay. what evn vars are you talking about?

This trick that Diego posted in his blog might help you, however it is totally unsupported and may eat your children, break your pc, steal your wife etc etc.
