That's what I got with every 2.6.24-zen version so far and why I'm still running 2.6.23-kamikaze5, because I didn't have the nerves and time to bother about the problem. It seems to me though that it only occured after building external modules against the kernel, so it could possibly be nvidia-related. |

Waninkoko, you did an amazing work, but i have to agree: 2.6.23-kamikaze5 is much more mature especially for my notebook than zen is. It uses 2 watts less power, reboots/halts stable and hibernate/suspend works more stable too. Indeed I use this last kamikaze with updatet alsa and iwl-wifi.
Nevertheless i will test every new release! Thank you very much for your efforts!
Best regards

There's this famous issue with rcupreempt.c and ATI drivers. To be able to install ATI drivers, you have to change EXPORT_SYMBOL_GPL(__rcu_read_lock) to EXPORT_SYMBOL(__rcu_read_lock) and same for read_unlock. |

Waninkoko, I know you use the b43 driver. By chance, did the fwcutter version 11 not extract the newest versions of the firmware for you? I can't get it to, it says that it has an unrecognized md5sum. I'm stuck using the 4.80.x.x driver, which stinks, as my connections are intermittent and aren't useful at all. My signal is good, but I have trouble connecting and have connection issues where I can pull up a page or two, and then am totally unable to even though I'm still connected.
I need to extract the new broadcom-wl-4.150.x.x, but can't...
Anyone have a version of the b43-fwcutter that will do this, or a copy of the firmware files already extracted?
I didn't have these problems in ndiswrapper, but it would be nice to have promiscuous mode as well as not have to compile ndiswrapper every time the kernel is updated. _________________ Make The Fonts Pretty In KDE

Dmesg is showing these traces on the newest master-devel, unsurprisingly my USB keyboard is behaving erratically also (producing the wrong actions, some keys don't work). Switched back to master branch, everything is fine. Anyone have an idea if this is a known bug or what might be going on?

Problems with HID too... My keyboard stop working, screens crashes but mouse still alive ( wireless kit of keyboad + mouse). All that I can do is to disconect the receptor and reconnects. X restarts and everything becames normal - almost always. Sometimes all that I can do is to reboot machine directly ><
Any ideas of how to fix?

Probably its a know issue, right? ( its really dificult to find something in such big thread... )
And I'm somewhat confused by those USE Flags. Portage is enabling x86 and symlink flag. My machine is a amd64 (Q6600), should I disable x86 and enable ia64?? ( anyway, I tried that too - and all combinations of those 2 flags - with the very same result ) _________________ "Nolite arbitrari quia venerim mittere pacem in terram non veni pacem mittere sed gladium" (Yeshua Ha Mashiach) |

My USB-Harddisk as well as my cymotion wireless keyboard (usb) and usb mouse work just fine.
There is one trace about nvidia, driver patched.
Other than that logs are clean and all is fine. _________________ http://proaudio.tuxfamily.org/wiki - pro-audio software overlay

Which log are you talking about? dmesg?
(Dear Lord, I really don't deserve that "Aprentice" below my name. I'm so n00b XD)
I can't remember of anything odd about dmesg... but I'm not sure. It start to fail at boot section, when try to load the drivers ( and yeah, I recompiled them with the new kernel... ). I'll try to catch the backtrace it gives me, if I don't fix it this time...
EDIT: now is working fine... probably it was a configuration that I setted. Unfortunally I can't know which one, I throw away my old .config and rebuilded everything... _________________ "Nolite arbitrari quia venerim mittere pacem in terram non veni pacem mittere sed gladium" (Yeshua Ha Mashiach) |

I thought it was something specific to this system, but then I checked the logs on my pvr and this exact thing is happening there. Same kernel (zen3), completely different hardware, the hard drives are even different (sata on one, pata on other). I'm looking for similarities between the two but there doesn't seem to be any, expect the kernel. Each system has multiple harddrives, but only one on each is borking. It's not the hard drives, one isn't even a week old and it fits the timeline for the new kernel.
Try this to check.
Code: | ls -1 /var/log/kern.log*.gz | xargs -l1 zgrep DRDY ; grep DRDY /var/log/kern.log |

KoT,
No deal

ki-sources is something like zen-light. It's based on .25-rc3.

KoT,

It's not the name of master-devel; it's the name of master-light.

With latest master-devel I get random kernel panics (I suppose so, it's hardlock and blinking leds).
edit: and with master immediately after loading the kernel computer restarts, uhm. Well, I use gcc-4.3, but I compiled zen master-devel with it 2 days ago and it was ok. _________________ ncmpcpp - featureful ncurses based MPD client inspired by ncmpc |
