Hi, 8O
right up front i'd like to apologize for my English, i hope that you will understand what I am trying to say

I have a problem with sun disk label and something which is called magic number

i tried modify install-sparc64-minimal-2007.0.iso
i mounted iso then image.squashfs, after it i changed some things and with the help of mksquashfs i made also same image of / called image.squashfs

here is a question

how can i create bootable iso by sun hardware
i tried almost everything possible & impossible with mkisofs & genisoimage, but result was (i left out mkisofs error messages caused by a lot of combinations of arguments) :

{0} ok boot cdrom
Boot device: /pci@8,700000/scsi@6/disk@4,0 File and args:
Bad magic number in disk label
Can't open disk label package

Can't open boot device

I'm very confused by pages in the manual pages about the mkisofs command

Does anybody know how can i create a fu**ing bootable iso?

Hi bbaf,

I a noobie here myself, but here's what I know about creating a boot disk. Try this section of the handbook:

http://www.gentoo.org/doc/en/handbook/2007.0/index.xml

This is the portion of the handbook dealing with burning a networkless LiveCD. I had a friend burn my CD using NERO burning software. This CD did not boot by itself. See here for more: https://forums.gentoo.org/viewtopic-t-637769-start-0-postdays-0-postorder-asc-highlight-.html

So I wound up making a 3.5" floppy boot disk using these links: http://sourceforge.net/projects/btmgr/ and http://www.student.northpark.edu/pemente/sed/sedfaq5.html

Others here know far more than I (since I know practically nothing), and now I yield the floor to them :)

Best with your efforts,
Nathan G.

P.S. Your English is great :)
