the problem is very strange.. I was a not-very-happy user of netscape-flash with nspluginwrapper.. it worked well in firefox (both 32 and 64 bit versions) and in opera.. then I switched to oss4.. I was unable to get sound from libflashplayer plugins in firefox and opera (64bit browsers unfortunately have problems with oss support in flash, and libflashsupport.so didn't work)..
but still I was able to use flash in firefox-bin, end eventually without sound in other browsers

but then I emerged newer version (9.0.115.0, previous was 9.0.48.0-r1) of netscape-flash.. and new problems appeared..
since I've emerged this version, flash in opera became completely useless (only white rectangles)
in firefox-bin and firefox it worked good, even sound..

but becase opera is my main browser I decided to completely unmerge netscape-flash, libflashsupport and nspluginwrapper, emerge it once again and then give it a try..

but there was still no flash in opera, and there was no sound in firefox (both versions)..
I downgraded to previous version of netscape-flash, and now I have flash in all browsers, but without sound

and here is what firefox prints in console:
Code:
$ firefox
No running windows found
which: no soundwrapper in (/usr/bin:/bin:/usr/X11R6/bin:/usr/local/bin:/usr/bin:/bin:/usr/qt/3/bin:/usr/libexec/gpc/x86_64-pc-linux-gnu/3.4:/usr/games/bin:/usr/x86_64-pc-linux-gnu/gcc-bin/4.1.2:/usr/kde/3.5/bin:/opt/blackdown-jdk-1.4.2.03/bin:/opt/blackdown-jdk-1.4.2.03/jre/bin:/opt/bin:/usr/games/bin:/usr/games/bin)

it tries to use alsa, but I have only oss..

what I want most is using the newest version of netscape-flash with opera (and with sound) :)

but any help in getting flash to work in any browser appreciated :D

I guess I'm having the same or a similar problem here. I'm on i686 and never had troubles with flash and opera/firefox with version net-www/netscape-flash-9.0.48.0-r1 and older (sound is fine too). But since I upgraded to net-www/netscape-flash-9.0.115.0 I also get those gray rectangles in opera instead of the flash content. It still works fine in firefox.

For now, I just masked 9.0.48.0-r1 and downgraded.

1. opera 9.25 and Flash 9.0.48 works. opera 9.25 does not work with Flash 9.0.115

2. opera 9.50 (1709 or greater) works with Flash 9.0 115

both statements are true :)
I can use flash 9.0.115 in opera 9.5, and 9.0.48 in opera 9.25
but there is one little problem.. still:
Code:
ALSA lib pcm.c:2105:(snd_pcm_open_conf) Cannot open shared library /usr/lib32/alsa-lib/libasound_module_pcm_oss.so
ALSA lib pcm_hw.c:1351:(_snd_pcm_hw_open) Invalid value for card

no matter if it is 32bit or 64bit version (of browsers and flash plugin), it tries to use alsa, not oss.. in all browsers..

any ideas?

1. Is the shared library 'really' present?

2. Is the shared library 'really' 32-bit?
Code:

objdump -a thesharedlibraryfile.so

if you're asking of /usr/lib32/alsa-lib/libasound_module_pcm_oss.so, I can say it doesn't exist.. despite of installed emul-linux-x86-soundlibs alsa-lib etc.
so I removed all alsa packages, because they were unnecessary for me..

and now I get:
Code:
$ firefox
No running windows found
which: no soundwrapper in (/usr/bin:/bin:/usr/X11R6/bin:/usr/local/bin:/usr/bin:/bin:/usr/qt/3/bin:/usr/libexec/gpc/x86_64-pc-linux-gnu/3.4:/usr/games/bin:/usr/x86_64-pc-linux-gnu/gcc-bin/4.1.2:/usr/kde/3.5/bin:/opt/blackdown-jdk-1.4.2.03/bin:/opt/blackdown-jdk-1.4.2.03/jre/bin:/opt/bin:/usr/games/bin:/usr/games/bin)

libflashsupport.so doesn't work..
I have "oss -alsa" USE flag set for whole system.. everything works, except for flash..
