I commented sys-fs/udev in /usr/portage/profiles/default-bsd/package.mask, used sys-fs/udev ** in /etc/portage/packages.keywords. Running
Code:
emerge udev
I got error message that I have to have installed at least 2.6.15 Linux kernel version ( I have FreeBSD kernel of course ). The same message I have got with udev-114,115 and 116. In versions 104,111,112 and 113 is problem with md5sum. If anybody successfully installed udev in Gentoo/FreeBSD please let me know what to do.

udev won't work with any non-Linux kernels.

Than how can make hal working with Gentoo/FreeBSD?
Quote:
localhost etc # equery d udev
[ Searching for packages depending on udev... ]
sys-apps/hal-0.5.9.1-r3 (kernel_linux? >=sys-fs/udev-104)
Code:
/etc/init.d/hald start
gives me an error
Quote:
...(hald)...exited with sig 11
and xorg-server wants to have USE="hal". I am going to rebuild entire X.

Not sure why hal isn't working, because it should on FreeBSD. Ask in #gentoo-bsd if anyone has managed to get it running correctly.
