Just in case anyone else is having this, or is about to have it ...

`upgrading' to the above-named version of the mouse driver caused loss of mouse operation. The mouse would not move at all. This is with ati-drivers. Xorg.0.log shows that symbol miPointerGetMotionEvents is not defined. Simply add the line

>=x11-drivers/xf86-input-mouse

to /etc/portage/package.mask and re-emerge the package.
