When I emerge XMMS it tries to install the gnome-core 1.4 and it hoses up gnome 2, when I logon the next time I see the 1.4 desktop not 2.0.
How can I install XMMS without the old gnome?

Code: |
export USE="-gnome"
emerge xmms
|
and you will get it without the gnome-core dependency _________________ For immediate answers, @gentoo.org :

I'm curious:
I did this and it works great, however I'm wondering which gtk xmms uses if the 1.4 libs aren't installed? If you look, the app is obviously using gtk1 widgets.
Just wondering. |

update here:
new -r10 of xmms works and depends on gnome-panel-1.4.1 that will not break Gnome 2 when installed.
And there is talk about a xmms for gtk2 in the ways, but nothing solid from xmms.org _________________ For immediate answers, @gentoo.org :

well, theres the use flag 'gnome' and then theres the use flag -gnome-libs. Be sure to remove them both. |
