Ok...i'm somewhat of a newbie....but i def am somewhat lost on all this portage thing....
how do i delete packages.....beacause...
ive decided taht i want to get ride of KDE and try fluxbox......
1. does gentoo have a fluxbox emerge???
2. how do i get rid of files or packages like kde 3 or evolution
kde seems to suck up alot of processor time and some resources and i wanna try something more streamlined and better with commandline rather than be part of the click and drool crowd.....

You don't need to get rid of KDE first; both will co-exist and if you decide to go back to KDE you don't have to rebuild the whole thing later. To get rid of packages, "emerge unmerge packagename", but be careful not to do something that might break your system (unmerging Portage or Python come to mind)...

/usr/portage/x11-wm/fluxbox

man emerge will give you the instructions. Look for the unmerge section.

and follow the documentation on fluxbox.sourceforge.net to get it running like you want to  ...
fluxbox is my favorite now. i don't need desktop icons at all when i can edit my menu by myself, fast and in a simple textfile |
