I'd just say that *BSD are just yet another Unices. It's not more or less stable that any Linux. The stability depends on what packages you agree to install or not.... but btw, I do prefer Linux. and you? btw2: is anything faster than gentoo? well every performance depends on how it got compiled

I know a lot of people who like FreeBSD because of the ports system and because it is considered to be really stable. I don't really think those hold all that much weight for me though because they are highly debatable topics. I also know a few people who like OpenBSD because its default install is very secure. I kinda like the idea of a really secure system, but I'm not all that interested in being forced to keep on the lookout for the absolute latest patches. It's a sad world we live in. I do like the documentation on securing gentoo and I think that gentoo could be a very secure system since it's a source distrobution and basically built from the ground up. I don't know if that would make it better than OpenBSD though because there's a lot of work involved in creating it. _________________ if i never try anything, i never learn anything..
