|

This may be a really stupid question, but...
I have a Vista machine and my MythTV server (Gentoo), and both have network shares. When I mount my Windows shares on my Gentoo box, I use CIFS so that MythTV can use the MP3s on my Windows box.
However, I have Recordings on my MythTV box that I want to share back to my Windows machine. I've configured the /media/recordings directory to shared in /etc/samba/smb.conf and that works fine. But the share is slow, and I'd like to specify a CIFS share rather than the default SMB share.
Is that even possible?
from my smb.conf:
Code: | [recordings]
comment = shared
path = /media/recordings
guest ok = yes
browseable = yes
inherit permissions = yes
writeable = no |

Try giving samba-tng a try. There is no "cifs" and smbfs like in the kernel. |
