Hello,

I just intalled gentoo on my system and I have trouble with the DVD-Burner. I can burn using gnomebaker (a Data DVD), but the file-system on the DVD seems to not ok. I tried a few computers, non can mount them.
My systems has a harddrive connected over AHCI (SATA2), but the burner is on an ide slot.
The drive also behaves strange in other ways:
If I do eject /dev/hda, nothing happens.
If I do mount /dev/hda (which fails, no medium in it) and eject /dev/hda afterwards, it works.

What could it be?
THanks!
Nathan

It might be interesting, the output of dmesg is a lot of:
Code:
hda: status error: status=0x58 { DriveReady SeekComplete DataRequest }
ide: failed opcode was: unknown
hda: drive not ready for command

Hello,

The dmesg output goes away when I change the drive from native ide to legacy ide in the bios.
But burning still fails!

Ideas?
Thanks!
Nathan

Setting "use multi-mode by default" solved my problem.

Thanks!
