the box in the upper left which is an xterm that i put startfluxbox in says this in case you cant read it:
Code:

X error of failed request: BadColor (invalid Colormap parameter
Major opcode of failed request: 84 (X_AllocColor)
Resource id in failed request: 0x0
Serial number of failed request: 11
Current serial number in output stream: 11
xmodmap: unable to open file '/home/haxle/.Xmodmap' for reading
xmodmap: 1 error encountered, aborting.

.xinitrc:
Code:
exec startfluxbox

and yet when i get past my slim screne it just drops me into that blue background with a xterm open and when i mouse over the blue it goes to standard black X indicating that fluxbox never got started.. I typed startfluxbox into the xterm to get the pic. right click menu is still functional you just can't see what you're clicking

I did see that, I thought it was unrelated however.. I'll take the fbsetbg out of my startup script and see if that changes anything..

ok so i took it out and now I just have the black box for my menu and a black toolbar with a white outline.. nothing readable in either

O and i ran esetroot -scale ~/poppies.jpg and it came back with command not found, couldn't emerge it but i thought it came with eterm, emerged eterm and it completed but it's not in /usr/bin or /usr/sbin and i can't seem to find the executable..

I did find all this in my fluxbox log:

Code:

Failed to read: session.screen0.toolbar.layer
Setting default value
Failed to read: session.screen0.toolbar.onhead
Setting default value
Failed to read: session.screen0.toolbar.placement
Setting default value
Failed to read: session.screen0.toolbar.height
Setting default value
Failed to read: session.screen0.toolbar.tools
Setting default value
Failed to read: session.screen0.iconbar.mode
Setting default value
Failed to read: session.screen0.iconbar.alignment
Setting default value
Failed to read: session.screen0.iconbar.iconWidth
Setting default value
Failed to read: session.screen0.iconbar.iconTextPadding
Setting default value
Failed to read: session.screen0.iconbar.usePixmap
Setting default value
Failed to read: session.screen0.strftimeFormat
Setting default value

that being the end of the file.. there was a lot more than that...

@haxle, this happen to my box too. In the end, it was the fact that the jpeg library was corrupted and needed to be rebuild. It wasn't as easy as just "re-emerging" the libjpeg. There were a couple other items that needed to be rebuild as well. I found a link in the forums under a "libjpeg" search. Hope that helps.

thanks for the tip! I rebuilt everything with libjpeg.so.8 in it and that didn't work and then i moved to libjpeg-turbo, those were really the only posts i found relating to libjpeg that were causing a problem, neither fixed the issue, I did install xfce4 and that works smoothly.. I would still really like to get fluxbox working however, does anyone else have any ideas?
